Dorothy Barker Briggs
Apr 19, 2018Born in Geauga County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Hazel Gastemire. Her first husband, Harry L. Barker passed away in 1973. Her second husband, John J. Briggs preceded her in death.She is survived by her son, Gary C. Barker, and daughter, Bonnie L. (Stephen) Kraybill. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Kristen, Jessica, Michael, Benjamin, Jaime, and Zachary; and nine great-grandchildren. One grandchild, Richard, preceded her in death. Dorothy had three sisters: Marian Tartaglia, Norma Fisher (deceased), and Ann Tanner.Dorothy grew up in Russell, Ohio. She was a hard-working farm girl who loved to tell stories about life on her family's farm. She graduated salutatorian from Russell High School in 1942. Dottie was a homemaker, who later in life worked for the Swartley Group, Quakertown, PA. She loved her family, and especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and her beloved great-grandson, Arthur.Services will be held at Kindrich-McHugh Steinbauer Funeral Home, 33375 Bainbridge Rd., Solon, Ohio on Monday, January 8 at 11am. Family and friends are invited to visit from 10-11am.
